Misty Lima

We have finally arrived in Lima. We would like to write more about it but we could barely see the place. This morning we went downtown to check out San Francisco monastery, catacombes, cathedral and few plazas. That was cool but when we came back to Miraflores (sea side suburb - popular with the expats and where we are staying) the town had completely disappeared. You can barely see to the end of the street or to the top of a tall building. It is that bad. Rob thinks he may have seen a hill or mountain, but that could be a hallucination. Apparently it is a sea fog which covers Lima for all but the summer months so we guess this is all we are going to see.

We are heading out tomorrow to Nazca to see the freaky lines, and then onto Arequipa, Puno and Cuzco. Lots of hours in buses to look forward to. Whoop!

Hello both
Thanks for the travel update. Obviously S.A. is subject to mist! Hopefully it's cleared away by now. In Lima you could keep an eye (or four) open for San Isadore where Michael lived as a boy with his parents. Smart suburb I should imagine.
A&G very much enjoyed your visit. Both are fine except A had a very disappointing residential course weekend. Not much learnt I gather.
Saw your parents yesterday Rob and I&P, family and K&M. Just managed to eat in the garden but it was definitely al fresco with jackets (and that's not a reference to potatoes - more to chillis!). Printed out your travel log for Mum so she's taken it home to digest properly. We were all saying how difficult it is to comment on your travel blog. Trouble is we just want to be there to see it for ourselves...
J&D are selling their bungalow and buying a flat in Mum's block. Just hoping it goes smoothly as it's a big move for them. The last time they moved was in 1953!
Anyway enough of us. Lots of love from all of us and have a wonderful birthday. Special greetings from Mum.

hey Claire,

thanks for writing. Sorry it is a bit hard to use, but we only set it up in about 5 minutes :-) Always good to catch up on what is going on back home.

We drove past San Isadore but didnĀ“t pay it much attention at the time. Oh well. It looked quite nice. Hopefully we will have a chace to talk to Michael about it one day.

Hope Gran liked the blog. Would be interested to hear her comments.

Anyways, love to you all
